As a part of First Peoples Cinema, we invited three leading figures from the Indigenous film world — Jason Ryle of the imagineNATIVE Film Festival (Canada), Bird Runningwater of the Sundance Institute (United States) and Kath Akuhata-Brown of the New Zealand Film Commission — to contribute short articles on an aspect of Indigenous cinema. The resulting essays, which range from artist profiles to aesthetic philosophy to the business of Indigenous film development and exhibition, offer intriguing angles on this now global cinematic phenomenon.
