ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, SPONSORSHIP

This will be an exciting year for TIFF as we present unique programming in our new home and the world's premiere centre for film, TIFF Bell Lightbox.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wants to be part of a new era in Toronto's cultural history.

The Sponsorship Team is responsible for developing and growing corporate partnerships to generate revenue opportunities for TIFF to include the Toronto International Film Festival and TIFF Bell Lightbox.  This position, reporting to the Director, Sponsorship oversees 2 direct reports and up to 4 indirect reports.

Responsibilities

Prospecting & Sales, including:
   o With the Director of Sponsorship, develop annual strategy for achieving departmental revenue targets
   o Lead a comprehensive sales outreach process, including sales calls, meetings and proposal development, that is coordinated with existing sponsor and category exclusivity agreements and/or renewal negotiations
   o Participate in sponsor prospecting, renewal and maintenance meetings as required and negotiate terms for contracts with new and renewing accounts.

• Negotiating & Sponsor Stewardship, including:
   o Ensure renewal and prospect contract negotiations support revenue strategy and are non-conflicting
   o Oversee creation of unique and exciting promotional initiatives to enhance sponsors involvement with TIFF
   o Liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders regarding terms of sponsorship agreements including appropriate logo placement, crediting, hospitality tickets, advertising, activations etc.
   o Ensure that legal documentation exists to reflect all mutually agreed upon terms of the sponsor partnerships
   o Build rapport with assigned sponsor contacts and support sponsor contacts, and provide excellent levels of service that create long-term, profitable sponsor relationships for TIFF.
   o Ensure direct reports liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders regarding terms of sponsorship agreements to ensure they meet the high quality standards for service expected from TIFF.

• Sponsorship Team Development & Management:
   o Oversee performance management and targets of direct reports, providing strong leadership and motivation
   o Lead recruiting efforts to hire new team members that will excel in meeting team goals
   o Provide training on related job requirements to fulfill responsibilities
   o Provide coaching and counseling to help direct reports grow professionally and meet their performance goals.

• Budget Management:
   o Work with Director to create an annual revenue and expense budget for the Sponsorship department and lead the process for tracking against revenue targets and monthly forecast updates
   o With Director, ensure sponsor payment schedules support TIFF Finance cash flow objectives
   o Problem solve, in consultation with Director, any issues that will impact timely payment of invoices.

Start Date:  March 4, 2013 (or sooner)

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of sponsorship or relevant partnership sales and account management experience as well as business team management
• Related post-secondary education
• Demonstrated track record of identifying, cultivating, soliciting new business
• Very strong negotiating skills and ability to diplomatically work with multiple stakeholders
• Exceptional relationship building and management skills
• Demonstrated track record of delivering excellent account management
• Persuasive; strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-motivated; works independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Problem solver
• Imaginative/Innovative
• Experience with working with or for a not-for-profit organization as asset
• Adaptable to a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends
