The Legend of Sarila
La légende de Sarila

Life can be harsh and challenging at the best of times for the people who live on the Arctic tundra. But when all the animals in the area suddenly disappear, leaving the hunters empty-handed and the community on the brink of famine, the brave youth Markussi realizes that drastic measures are required. In defiance of the clan shaman Kiliq, Markussi sets out with his friends Putulik and Apik and their adorable lemming sidekick Kimi in search of the legendary land of Sarila, which is said to be rich in fish, game and fruit. Pursued by the jealous shaman and confronted with numerous dangers, the intrepid trio must restore the natural balance of the environment in order to save their people. Canada’s first animated 3D feature is an expansive, gorgeous-looking adventure that testifies to the power of hope, the strength of friendship and the value of traditional culture.

"Quebec makes a successful foray into the world of digital 3D animation with this Inuit-inspired tale of the life-changing adventures of three teenagers in a far North ravaged by famine." Jeff Heinrich — Montreal Gazette
