Vic + Flo Saw a Bear
Vic et Flo ont vu un ours

Freshly released from prison, Vic (Pierrette Robitaille) and her lover and fellow ex-con Flo (Romane Bohringer) take up residence in a remote farmhouse to care for Vic's aging, ailing uncle Émil. Viewed with suspicion both by the locals, who have their own plans for Émil's lands, and Vic's parole agent (Marc-André Grondin), Vic and Flo soon find there are far more menacing beasts lurking in the woods. Part allegory, part redemptive love story, Vic + Flo boasts all the virtues one expects in a film by Côté — a remarkable sense of place, transfixing performances, and a lingering, palpable sense of dread — along with an overpowering sense of regret for lost opportunities and horizons limited by the actions of the past.

"The way it unfolds feels less about a conventional story than a series of set-ups and what-next moments in a genre-bender that might be called nature-noir." - Liam Lacey, Globe and Mail
