One-on-one conversation with one of the greatest character actors of our time. John Turturro has appeared in over sixty feature films in the past three decades and is a regular collaborator of the Coen Brothers (Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? ) and Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Miracle at St. Anna). In addition, he has worked with Martin Scorsese (The Color of Money), Robert de Niro (The Good Shepherd) and Noah Baumbach (Margot at the Wedding). This session covered Turturro's acting career and his numerous forays into directing, which include Mac,Illuminata, Romance & Cigarettes, Passione and his latest effort Fading Gigolo, starring Woody Allen, Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara .

    • John Turturro has starred in numerous films, including Do The Right Thing (89), Barton Fink (91), The Big Lebowski (98), and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (00). His directorial debut Mac (92) screened at the Festival and won a Camera d'Or Award at Cannes. His other features as director include Illuminata (98), Romance & Cigarettes (05), which screened at the Festival, Passione (10), and Fading Gigolo (13).

He teaches cinema studies at the University of Toronto and lectures on documentary film at Ryerson. He has just completed his first book, a critical study of Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls, for ECW Press, and is researching a book project about the Coen brothers.
