A man-made virus turns the inhabitants of a small town into murder-crazed maniacs in George A. Romero's grisly epidemic thriller.
An airplane crashes in Evans City, releasing a man-made virus that drives those infected incurably, violently mad. As the virus spreads through the population, the military swiftly descends on the town and quarantines the area. A local firefighter (Will McMillan) and his pregnant wife (Lane Carroll) try desperately to flee the army, the quarantine and the virus, but the town has been completely sealed off and there's seemingly no way out. As full of prescient social commentary as Romero's zombie films, this epidemic thriller is a sobering and provocative exploration of a theme the director has returned to many times: what happens to our humanity when social order collapses.
