A cocky young lawyer (Keanu Reeves) discovers that there is something more than ordinarily evil about the swank NYC law firm he's joined in this wonderfully campy supernatural thriller.
Cocky Florida lawyer Kevin Lomax (Keanu Reeves) is celebrating his latest courtroom victory when he's offered a dream job by a powerful NYC law firm headed by the verbose, fireplace-loving John Milton (Al Pacino). Moving to the big city with his innocent, bright-eyed wife Mary Ann (Charlize Theron), the ruthlessly ambitious Lomax rapidly moves up through the ranks, but following a number of strange and gruesome occurrences he comes to suspect that there is something more than ordinarily sinister about this particular law firm. A wonderfully over-the-top but completely straight-faced supernatural thriller with perhaps the most hilariously literal title in film history, The Devil's Advocate exults in its own indulgence, from the outrageously Gothic art direction to Pacino's gleefully typecast performance to Reeves' super-slick-backed hair.
