A group of pre-teen friends set out to find a lost pirate treasure hidden beneath their small Oregon town, in this kiddie spin on Indiana Jones from producer Steven Spielberg.
When their parents are threatened with foreclosure, a group of pre-teen friends who call themselves "The Goonies" resolve to find the lost treasure of fearsome pirate chieftain One-Eyed Willie (yes, that's right), which legend says is located somewhere beneath their small Oregon town, and use the spoils to save their homes. Discovering a fabulous underground cavern, the friends must contend with a series of elaborate death traps set up by the pirate band to protect their booty — all while being pursued by a family of fugitive bank robbers who have their eyes on the treasure as well. A kiddie spin on Indiana Jones from producer Steven Spielberg, featuring an appealing cast of young up-and-comers — including one of the Coreys (Feldman), a pre-Lord of the Rings Sean Astin as the Goonies' fearless and asthmatic leader, and a bandanna-sporting Josh Brolin — as well as some seriously questionable taste, The Goonies has become a much-loved cult classic among the now-greying members of the Nintendo generation.
