    • Nicolas Winding Refn
    • Nicolas Winding Refn was born in Copenhagen and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. An accomplished writer, producer and director, he is known for his edgy and highly stylized films, which include Bleeder, Fear X, Bronson, Valhalla Rising, and, most recently, Only God Forgives. At age 24, he had written and directed his first feature, the extremely violent and uncompromising Pusher. The film became a cult phenomenon, winning instant international critical acclaim, and was later expanded to include two sequels, Pusher II and III. Winding Refn has already received two lifetime achievement awards (one from Taipei International Film Festival in 2006 and the second from Valencia International Film Festival in 2007) and was the winner of the Emerging Master Award from the Philadelphia International Film Festival in 2005. In 2011, he won the Best Director Award in Cannes for Drive.
