Academy Award-winning composer and longtime Cronenberg collaborator Howard Shore introduces our screening of Naked Lunch.
- Howard Shore
- Howard Shore is among today's most respected and active composers and conductors. His work with Peter Jackson on The Lord of the Rings trilogy stands as his most towering achievement to date, having earned him three Academy Awards. Shore was one of the original creators of Saturday Night Live, and served as the music director on the show from 1975 to 1980. At the same time, he began collaborating with David Cronenberg and has scored 14 of the director's films, including The Fly, Crash, and Naked Lunch. Shore has won Genie awards for his original scores to Dead Ringers, Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method, and two Canadian Screen awards for Cosmopolis. He continues to distinguish himself with a wide range of projects, from Martin Scorsese's The Aviator , Gangs of New York, The Departed and Hugo, to Ed Wood, The Silence of the Lambs, and Philadelphia.
- Naked Lunch
David Cronenberg fused episodes from William S. Burroughs' notorious (and notoriously unfilmable) novel with elements from the writer's biography and his own unique imaginings to create this surreal, shocking, hilarious, poetic, conceptually and visually striking masterpiece.
