Higher Learning is a free ongoing programme that provides Canadian post-secondary students and faculty a forum to examine the role of film, television, video, new media and gaming from a wide range of cultural, social, historical, political and technological approaches and disciplines.

There are three ways you can participate:

1. Guest Speaker Events: Reserve tickets to attend our Higher Learning events with artists, practitioners and scholars. Information on reserving tickets can be obtained by clicking tickets.

Post-secondary students and faculty can join the Higher Learning listserv to learn more about our upcoming Higher Learning events at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

2. Tours: Higher Learning is pleased to offer guided tours of the TIFF Bell Lightbox facilities, the Film Reference Library, and the Canadian Film Gallery that are free of charge to post-secondary students and faculty.

Facilities Tour: This tour highlights some of the many curatorial, community-based and educational initiatives underway in our new building, which is located at the heart of the Entertainment District in Toronto.
Film Reference Library Tour: The Film Reference Library is the ultimate resource for filmmakers, students, researchers, screenwriters, and film and television professionals. One of our librarians can introduce your students to the world's largest resource of English-language Canadian film and film-related materials, as well as a wide range of local, national and international film resources.
Exhibitions Tour: A tour of the Canadian Film Gallery can also be arranged for students and faculty, when available.

More information about how to book a tour is available on our Tours page.

3. Online Resources: The Higher Learning Digital Resource Hub complements our live events by providing satellite educational programming to academic communities and the public at large, extending the Higher Learning experience beyond the walls of TIFF Bell Lightbox. The Digital Resource Hub's materials include filmographies and bibliographies generated from the resources of the Film Reference Library, as well as video footage of some of our past Higher Learning events.

All Digital Resources can be accessed by clicking Events.

These events are available exclusively to faculty and currently registered post-secondary students
