J. Joly spent two decades in the media sphere as a musician, an award-winning short filmmaker, and a production-team member in Toronto’s film and television industry. After relocating to Vancouver, he founded dimeRocker, a boutique social agency that developed a platform to accelerate the creation of branded social games, gamification, and social TV strategies. dimeRocker’s clients include CBC, Telus, Weinstein Co, and Disney/ABC.
J. also sits on the board of the Vancouver International Film Festival and is an advisor for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, Merging + Media, and X-Summit. Canadian media site Techvibes named him as one of the “Digital Media People to Watch in 2011.”
J. recently founded CineCoup: a film project accelerator that provides a new model for filmmakers to develop, market, and finance their feature films. CineCoup received initial backing from Growlabs, as well as support from Cineplex Entertainment. CineCoup will pilot in Canada in 2013 before rolling out internationally.
