Andréa Picard
Q&A  Bio

Programming for the Festival since:

Desert-island films:
Red Desert (Michelangelo Antonioni)
La Région centrale (Michael Snow)
L’Amour existe (Maurice Pialat) + Césarée (Marguerite Duras) = feature length
Ma nuit chez Maud (Éric Rohmer)
Beau Travail (Claire Denis)

Your favourite Festival programmer who is not you:
Dimitri Eipides. Who else could found a Cinematheque during unprecedented economic and political instability?

The strangest place you’ve ever watched a film:
In a crashing airplane. (We all survived, and jumped out the shoot!)

What do you do for the rest of the year when you aren’t programming for the Festival?
I curate exhibitions and film programmes, and write about film and art for multiple publications. I’ve recently begun doing research at the Louvre for a book that is likely to be published posthumously, if at all...
